Because the Steam Has to Turn Back to Water Some Time

April 7, 2008

As I sit here, chomping upon my Blue Diamond Cheddar Cheese Almond Nut-Thins (no, seriously, theseAH HA HA HA things? Delicious.), I find that I have nothing but a giant unending absence of inspiration for a poemlogue. Is it over so quickly? Shall I never poemlogue again? Sad, sad, sad. So, instead of a poemlogue, I shall over you this confession: until I was twenty five years old, it never once occurred to me that The Count (from Sesame Street) was called The Count not solely because he was a member of the Transylvanian aristocracy (the explanation I’d always considered to be the correct one), but because he COUNTED. NUMBERS. Get it? Count? Count? Ah ha ha ha!!!

Sad, sad, sad.

After the Break-Up You Find Yourself Smoking Again

Smoking is bad for you, kids.

There is no power, my pretty power.

April 7, 2008

I will admit that I have gone outside approximately five times in the past half hour to smoke a cigarette and to procrastinate writing this introduction. Prose fails me tonight! So tonight will be, instead, a thank you of sorts. A handing out of Diamond Heart Necklaces.

A Diamond Heart Necklace for every single participant in NaPoWriMo! This is turning out to be incredibly difficult!

A Diamond Heart Necklace for my friend D_____! He requested that I put the word “bodega” in my poem for today.

A Diamond Heart Necklace for Harper Lee! She used the word “chiffarobe” in To Kill a Mockingbird, and I am so in love with the word “chiffarobe” that I cannot stand it!

And, last but most certainly not least, FIVE DIAMOND HEART NECKLACES for my partner in crime, Viv! She deserves FIVE DIAMOND HEART NECKLACES today! Actually, she deserves FIFTY! She knows why!

In case you’re wondering, Dear Reader, of the importance of the Almighty Diamond Heart Necklace, I have placed a photo below. It is a photo of fashion; it is a very fashionable photo. It is a photo of the First Lady of Fashion, Brenda Dickson, and she is wearing the coveted Diamond Heart Necklace that Viv and I have referred to on this blog many times before.

Know the Diamond Heart Necklace. Appreciate its power.
